    Poem Commentary

This was about my Granddaddy... He passed away March 31, 2008.

    Who Will Say Grace?

The head of the table is empty,

    Where did you go?

    Why did you leave me?

Do you realize how much I miss you?

    Only once have I visited,

Sorry, but being at your new home...

I leave and for hours I wept.

    No one could replace you.

    Who will say Grace?

    I don't believe in God.

    But I miss your kind, soft voice;

I only believed when you did.

When you left, so did my faith,

    Why did you leave me?

I go to visit expecting you in your chair,

    Forgetting you're in your grave.

Hi wishfulpoet94 you have done an excellent job expressing your sorrow. I lost my grandfather a long while ago and I still miss him. But I hold the hope of a reunion one day. In my walk of life each time I use the advice and teaching he gave I feel that a part of him lives on through me.

Thanks for sharing personal ordeals, I just hope one day my poetry will help upon grieving.

I felt your pain as soon as I started to read this. Keep writing from the heart and being sincere. That is how people can relate. Once you can grab a readers attention and they can see things through you eyes then you know you are a good writer.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear my feelings were brought across clearly. It took me a few days to finish the inspiration due to the pain.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
