I don't want to be around 

when the leaving time has come.

I don't want to see your face 

when I just walk out that door.

 

There's been many times

I packed my bag 

and many more I didn't,

teeth held against words.


I never brought forth

what you wished for;

your ecstatic night's dream

revealed so long ago.

 

Morning light again,

familiar silence, 

laying beside me,

turned the other way.

 

Damn, still I stay

fastened here

searching for the key

to open your heart ...
