When I am gone

When I am gone
Look for me in the trees
The hush of the morning dew
The crisp crackle of leaves underfoot

Listen and you will hear
The song of my heart
That pulses each moment anew

The hummingbirds flight
The fresh fallen snow
Silently shouting
I am, I am

Feel the presence,
Deep from the core
Leaping out to embrace the world
Not knowing in that instant
Who is embracing whom,
The silent rhythm of all life
I am, I am

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
