    Breathe

She taught me to breathe again is only a part of what she did

The door of my heart has been kicked open exposing what I hid

As a man I’m thought to be strong but she makes me weak

She has peeled layers of hurt from my battered heart and found what’s beneath

I will never love again is what I said but I see so much more

The feeling I have shows that I had never really loved before

But now I have been blessed to have an angel a small piece of heaven on earth

She has broken the spell killed the demon and gracefully removed the curse

When I’m away from her phone calls and text messages serve as artificial aid

She is the very end of every love scandal the end of the games I played

There is no doubt about it I’m in love for sure it’s true

I don’t know how I survived without her how I ever got through

She is my real love thang my earthly comforter my lemonade maker

The Lord took his time with design and thought for me he’d make her

But he groomed and whipped me to prepare me to be the man

Producing beautiful love that I never knew which lies right in the palm of my hand

No more side pains for me, my rib has come home

With a love so regal and rare I’ll never be alone

A love of my own how blessed I am to find

I’ll give my life for her she’ll forever be mine

I wonder if I deserve her, such a beautiful queen

Who has the power to move me and make me her king

She gave me a love that changes all I knew

With a brand new voyage of love that I can’t wait to get to

When I inhale her love I exhale my pain

Sometimes I wake in cold sweats screaming her name

Her touch is all over me what a feeling to receive

Who would believe that in a world of suffocation she taught me to breathe

You are very lucky, but so is she. You obviously mean very much to her. You are definitely in love.

Thank you, she is exactly what I said she is. We are getting married July 4th.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
