    Diamond in the rough

Diminsional in colors ragged and sharp
Crossing the line into the dark
My light reflects shine and show so I ask....
    Don't you know?

The deep black ooze of sin appearing as coal
Wrapping its long evil arms around my soul
I can't breathe I beg to be free and so I ask...
    Don't you know?

Salvation is just a prayer away.
The enemy wants to make me stay.
While tears pour down my face, I hide from disgrace
    Don't you know?

Dip me into the healing waters washing me clean
Making me white as snow from the world that is mean.
You provide rest for my soul my substance sucks it up.
Don't you  know I long for  your cup.

With this life I am born again.
I  know  now where I belong.
With my fingers on the keys showing my hearts song.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
