Echoes and Memories

In my dreams I see your smiling face...
Your happiness was here..in this place...
Your laughter still rings throughout these walls...
This was your home for years..after all...

There's nothing here for me but memories...
Echoes of all that used to be...
My tears are for the times we had...
Some were happy..some were sad...

I know my tears won't bring you back...
But these dreams of you won't let me be...
When I close my eyes I see you..hear you...
The ecjhoes of you..in my memory...

As I stand again..here in this place...
I feel so weak in the knees...
My throat is tight..choking back tears...
I long..for all the "used to be's..."

I just can't believe you're really gone...
And all around me..life..still going on..
The air here though..it isn't the same...
As my heart feels broken all over again...

Echoes and memories of a time long ago...
Though, sometimes, it feels like yesterday...
The rooms in this house are all empty and sad...
But..your spirit..is here to stay...

Awe, you got me. It's an emptiness inside we share, what was supposed to be is no longer there, and now when we look, what we can see, there is pain and a memory. I am so sorry. Lovely poem, and I enjoyed it very very much. Going in my fav's. Write on......................Tlady

thank you katrinaLeAnn and you're right!! no matter how i try to hide some of my feelings, someone around me always knows...putting those feelings on paper is the one way i begin to understand myself and to deal with whatever may be troubling and/ or confusing. you are so kind to send me these wonderful comments. thank you for reading, liking and appreciating what i've written.

again, thanks katrinaLeAnn. you know, when my foster mother died and i visited the house for the first time since then... where we all lived and dealt with many things with a rainbow of emotions, i could, seriously, feel the emotions i wrote in the poem and so much more.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
