Flash Of White
A bright light, a flash of whiteDrowning out the screams
of the chaotic nightmare on fast forward.
A sister's smile now lost in oblivion
A mother's strength diminishing
Through tunnels of sorrow
A brother's suppressed rage
a friend's constant melancholy.
Here we lay you to rest
As the snow embraces us all
With what seems to be your presense
I remember your smile like Christmas morning
As snowflakes kiss my cheeks and hide my tears.
It's so cold, still for you, a song
As I hold the flickering candle
With eyes cast downwards
Staring at your newest adventure.
My knees grow weak and buckle
My fingers feel the sting of the first sign of winter
They're throwing earth now, rise up I say!
Rise up now! This can't be real, you are somewhere smiling
A prank, a cruel prank from the Heavens.
With fresh pictures of you still in my mind's eye
I turn away, I cannot watch them bury you
After years in my heart as the memories of my youth
How could they take you away?
Nearly a year now, how my heart aches
The life you lived effortlessly, the tapestry you wove from your heart
outshines mine by a thousand bright lights
But is drowned out by the thunder
And a flash of white.
