    Poem Commentary

To Kendra and Samara I always knew when you were out of bed Love you Always

    Footsteps in the Hall

    No carpet on the stairs.
    Floors polished and bare
    Aren't you suppose to be
    in bed?
    Dreaming dreams of Angels
    instead of
Listening to your footsteps in the hall.
    Peeking through the railing
Listening to TV from down below
    Hoping Mommy won't notice
    Your little tiny toes or
    Your footsteps in the hall.
To sleepy to make it back to bed
So you rest your tiny head
Leaning back on the hallway wall
Good night my little footsteps in the hall

Nice. Can tell you like being a mom. Can almost hear the tiptoes.

a short sweet poem remind me of my kids growing up a beautiful job

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
