    Were You

    Were you only a dream
A figment living in my mind
Your lips were firm and gentle
I can still feel them on mine
Your arms were strong and powerful
    You held me just right
The day seemed to fly away
    Sending me into endless night
    I hated to leave you
    But I had to go
    Longing for your return
And that peace you brought to my soul
    Were you just a dream
I hope and pray you were not
For I long to be in your arms
Today and for the rest of my life

maybe it's not a dream and if it is dreams do come true a feeling of love

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
