I Am Man, I am Woman
I AM MAN, I AM WOMAN
I am Man, I am Woman
I have stood over the pits of Hell
bounded alone facing my own demons,
my own ego.
I have been scarred
and bled for ideas
that plagued my conscious
to be voiced,
I voiced them.
I have stood in the shadows
of other men's minds,
and wondered in amazement
at their security in foolishness.
I mourn knowing
that the rest of my race
stands above this pit
it will be too late;
my Hell now
is their Hell to come.
Yet on they go
rushing ever forward
running straight for the very thing
they think they have escaped from.
I am Man, I am WomanI have witnessed
the rise and fall
of mighty empires,
I have seen the fall
of greater men than I.
I have witnessed many wars
and have seen how men
can destroy
the very thing they love.
I have watched gods
come and go
each one weaker and more pathetic
than the before.
I was there when
the pyramids were built,
I was there when Atlantis
sunk beneath the waves.
I am Man, I am Woman
I have the capacity to love
with every fiber in me,
I can hate with the same
fierce countenance.
I have the soul of a romantic,
the heart of a lover,
but my spirit can rise up
with the fierceness of a warrior,
a berserker.
I am a dreamer and poet,
a dancer and musician
I've written curses and blessings,
truths and lies.
I can be as complex
as I can be simple,
good as I can be evil,
soft as I can be hard.
I have walked among the blessed
and the damned alike,
the rich and the poor,
the mortal and immortal.
I have saved
many lives and souls,
I have escorted many
to their final resting place.
I am Man, I am Woman
many things have I been
I have been mother, father,
sister, brother, son and daughter.
I have been lawyer, cop
criminal and shaman.
I have saved and been saved,
killed and been killed,
hated and been hated,
loved and been loved.
I have learned wisdom
and knowledge,
been brainwashed
and used as a puppet;
I wrote the propaganda.
I am Man, I am Woman
I have sailed the seven seas,
climbed majestic mountains,
crawled across the desert floor.
I have been slave and master,
black and white,
yellow and red
I have been all things.
One day, when the race is done,
and Gaia, the Earth
has no more need for me,
and the time of
my ascension has come.
There will be a spoor
of my passing left,
enough for another species to say ;
" This was man, this was Woman
