I Say to Thee

I Say to Thee

I Say to Thee…

Take no offense

If I despair,

For any instance

I’ll show I care.

If you read pain

Upon this face,

The short rain

Time shall erase.

I say to you

Please understand,

I write what’s true

Upon this hand,

If or when

You look at me.

I won’t pretend

I say to thee.

So just smile without worry

And I shall do the same,

This I know, I say to thee

I’ll be calling out your name.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
