Poem Commentary

Simply because I cannot seem to shake the feelings of despair that have decided to hang out with me lately, I decided to quickly write the most uplifting, cheery freeverse I could muster up, just because I thought it would be interesting to try to write something that was the ABSOLUTE ANTITHESIS of how I really feel, so, I guess it actually makes it darker than anything else I have ever written.

Light

The light of dawn, the SUN!

shines on the promise

of a new day of hope.

Perhaps the healing can begin.

The looping, swirling letters

written in a lighter hand

tell of change, a turn

-a life worth saving.

One only needs to face

the east, the circle in the sky

to see the shining sparkle

of a renewed beginning.

A breath of frosty air

and the smell of warmed hearts

can welcome back

the most tired of souls.

A friend's smile, a lover's touch

a warm hand or kind spirit

can dispel the unforgiving dark

if only for a season.
