  • Just posted a poem titled "As I grow older".

my mother

My Mother

My mother, gentle and soft her spirit

Kind and honest was her way

Bad words about anyone

Did she ever say.

Never did she falter

Although she had her trials

She met all adversity

With laughter and with smiles

Even when her sight grew dim

And she could hardly see

She was a great example

A hero unto me.

A dedicated mother, an ever-loving wife.

Family was her focus during mortal life

Untouched by pride, selfishness or greed

Any sacrifice to give us all we need.

No influence could be greater

Than what she was to me.

As I grow older, wiser

She’s all I’d like to be

I believe you have made her proud!-'and her children shall rise up and call her blessed'-All any mother can hope, is that one day her children will grow, and honor her guidance and love..I believe dearest friend, this you have done well.-Maddi

Your have made my day young lady. This poem is the closet to my heart as any thing I have written. I was able to read this to her just before she left this mortal realm .

It is amazing - when a girl becomes a woman, becomes a wife, becomes a mother - she becomes more than the sum of her parts.

They have the greatest influence on our children. Some of the greatest women are the greatest mothers

A beautiful tribute to a wonderful person and mentor. You did her proud. One possilbe correction: Did you mean to possibly say No in front of :Bad words about anyone Did she ever say.

I don't remember if I had considered putting No in front or not. I looks like it would work and maybe give a clearer message. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate the critique.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
