O Son of The Morning

Poem Commentary

The writer knows that to tell an engaging story he or she has to let have its way with following the heart. The biblical account is written somewhat like a grocery list when you contrast the amount of content which lies behind the event. God regretted to do many things in and beyond time. Even in eternity we'll probably never comprehend all the things we'd like to have answers for. When God made the heavens and the earth he had declared them "GOOD". When he made man he declared that ... "VERY GOOD!" He was pleased with all the created beings without a doubt. I would see it as painful to see part of Heaven go from him.

O Son of The Morning

O Son of The Morning

O what is this, my crown of morning,
 your beauty and your cause...
Was it beyond such span of wings
that light could hide your flaws?

O shining marvel of my making
Could I not hear your river flow?
Is there a pool of secret dwelling
Which only you can know?

O flame of imperfection
Flaming arrows stick me through
To gather pain with your collection
Of the jaded and untrue

O fall, my son of morning
- You are no longer mine
Encase your heart in earth and stone
And enter into time

Decend within my blessing
Which is meted on the earth
The meek shall find my mercy
and you, eternal curse

O fall my son of morning
And don the robes of night
Your kingdom is restricted
And shall be severed from my light

But know my son of mourning
This usurping form you've cast
Will see my "good" begining
When the ending scroll is past

Impeccable. Each verse stands alone in glory! I'm not sure the meaning behing verse one, but it served to make me hunger. Great write!

This is a very good poem and well constructed. I like how you construct open questions; the next from last stanza is powerful and the last stanza is revealing of a judgment, in my humble opinion. Love, peace and freedom, Olan

This is one powerful write. Kudos to you for the pathos enjoined. It's simply not true that God never liked the Devil. He mourned him. Harv

Hi Harver! It's a discovery afforded by my lingering on the picture of Heaven. How important it is to not simply grab a "fact" and dutifully run with it. God waits in quiet pools of thought to toss a peddle of understanding our way.

This piece, written in 19th Century romantic-style, is simply beautiful. bravo!

Thank you my friend. (I wasn't aware of that fact actually.)

I am confident that my epose on this passage would be of lesser beauty. It is framed and then formed in majesitc poetic wording that transcends time. I have heard it said that Lucifer, the light bearer, was actually clothed in light and that was his draw as other angels followed him into eternal infamy...what a work to preface your sabbatical summer with!

Ya that's was my understanding as well. We'll be getting all clarifying details when we get on the other side but LIGHT seems to be the prime component in things celestial. [Think sea of glass before the throne]. Thank you friend for your gracious words.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
