    Poem Commentary

    The skeleton in the closet, is a love story following the death of my great great grandmother, which occurred during the Trail Of Tears, the forced relocation of Native Americans, and a decade long stay in the Indian Territory. No one would talk about or share, a little research following references in a historic novel revealed a common name from that time line, my great great grandfather left his name amidst the Cherokee Nation, before moving on to Texas, and a period of hate and prejudice towards Native Americans, and explained a strong pull towards a special people.

    of love and prejudice, and a trail of tears

     not so long ago
    when fear ruled
    and hate decided

    a stolen forest
    an unshared glen
    bounty's desired

    and sorrows woe
    amidst the tears
    a brave few

    pheromones impart
    hearts do mend
    love can bloom

    life's do end
    hate lives on
    memories abound

    To be take from the beauty of Tennessee and to be put in the desert of Okla .is a slap in he face of mankind . I too had some die in this dishonor thanks Marie
