    On my way to bed

    I pass by your chair
    on my way to bed
I touch your shoulder ever so lightly
    that simple touch
    conveys a lifetime of love
    and shared bliss not
    easily put into words

    Your smile grows even sweeter
    with each passing year
what a blessing our love has been
    a true test of time
from the moment I saw you
    all those years ago
I knew then what love was

    your selfless acts of kindness
    a complete disire for good
I see how others look at you
it makes proud to be the one
    passing your chair nightly
    for over 50 years

    come on darling sleep
    is calling our names
you know I need you in my arms to truly rest
    happy memories fill my mind
where we laugh and love and hold each other close
I sqeeze you ever so tightly
and drift off with a smile on my face

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
