    Our Generation

Our generation fights a different battle-
    The war on violence.
We have kids who are taught nothing
    But to hate and fight.
    Life overwhelms them,
    And they grab the gun,
    Pulling the trigger
    Either on themselves,
    Or on others.
    Suicide?
    Homicide?
    Genocide?
    They're nothing new.
But things like love, acceptance and peace
    Are all foreign.
Kids my own age scare me,
So quick to turn on one another.
    Fighting to achieve what?
This day in age we have more opportunities.
But less people willing to try them.
Better role models, but diminishing morals.
Can you tell me why that is?

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
