Stolen Time but Not Your Heart

Wonderland and Fairy-d Tarts
Have stolen time but not your heart

That sacred place belongs to me
I’ve got the map, I’ve got the key

You run, escape, straight journey there
Yet, in the end no one will care

No one will care, 'cept just for me
I’ll light the flame that sets you free

No chains, no bonds, no burdens, I
Will lift your wings and help you fly

For you to soar, just as you’ve dreamed
Stop seeking peace in love supreme

It’s desolate, it’s empty, farce
Just stolen time, but not your heart

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
