    Thoughts By The Window

    Thoughts By The Window
I sit alone by the window gazing willfully outside.
    Such a Beautiful, glorius day.
I remember a time I would have been dressed, for a day of play.
Alas, it is not so anymore.
I sit here alone behind closed doors.
How foolish we are when we are young and strong.
To waste all that energy on doing nothing right.
    And everything wrong.
Learn from your mistakes I use to hear.
In the time learning, time had elapsed another year.
Maybe I was slow to learn.
Or ignoring my lessons at a slow burn.
Now, today here alone, I long for that youthful satisfaction.
Waste not, want not my Mother always said.
How I would like today to waste the day away.
With laughter and fun, and that feeling of no fear.
Running with the wind in my ear.
Jumping and working and laughing till I dropped.
And starting again the next day, no fear, not a drop.
Ahh Youth, such a wonderful thing.
Cherish it, for it is a fleeting thing.
I sit here alone today, watching time, so slowly slip away.
So soon comes the ending of the day.
