    watching storms

    The lightning strikes
    flashes light across the sky.
    Opens my eyes, flickering
in portions, then comes with sound.

    As thunder rolls
    the sound unfolds, rumbling
    slowly towards me, like waves
    of a tumultuous sea, untame,
    unceasing are my thoughts.

The rain pours down. Falls heavily
on cold ground, like a liquid
    curtain covering the view, washing
    all it touches.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
