    “OUT OF THE BLUE”

Out of the blue, memories of yesterday, a word spoken, a tune heard, perhaps, someone you pass on the street looks like that special loved one... Never the less, you relive those moments, catch your breath, and dream of another place and time.
Out of the blue, thoughts catch us more often when we’ve matured. Our pace is slowed, we have more time to see and hear the wonders of the universe.
Out of the blue, we have time to reflect on our lives, to smile at days gone by, remembering the greatest memories, even the saddest. We’re the better for them.
Out of the blue, do we ask, “Are we happy with ourselves. How have we lived?” Yes, we all have regrets and many things we would change if given the opportunity. Much of life is chance and risk, but oh, what a glorious ride!
Out of the blue, I know I would do it again, try to mend those times where I made mistakes. I would love deeper, show more kindness, catch more butterflies, and stop to smell the roses. I’d look into the souls of people, and savor every moment of life to the fullest.
Out of the blue, I would listen closely to my heart and soul, be true to myself, and proud of me. After all I’ve achieved most of my goals, and helped other along the way.
Out of the blue, I realize the fountain of youth has gone dry, and better days may have passed, but I greet the future with a smile…

Well, it may be prose, but it subliminally read like poetry - because of the repeated title! The theme is indeed eternal - be alive while you are! Mortality definitely has its glitches but, the true fountain of youth is the soul. And the soul is one everlasting ember of the perpetual love of the universe. Woops, I might've just started a new poem there, lol! Interesting how the future and blue skies go so well together. Beautiful write, Brenda!!

Nicely written. Upbeat, positive and reminiscent. Tied together well.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
