FRIENDS BECOME ANGELS

FRIENDS BECOME ANGELS

Pondering my acquaintances of late,

Good souls and loving spirits

I’ve encountered on the internet;

I find simply amazing.

Loneliness engulfs me

As it does many people

But I eagerly greet

New acquaintances on ~ line…

In a very short time,

I’ve acquired new friends.

The blessings they add to my life

Are innumerable…

Connecting bond evolves;

Thoughts, prayers, and problems

Can be shared with my Angels.

Life has new meaning.

Comfort received warms my soul,

And gives me renewed energy.

It enlightens my heart

Knowing Angels are there for me.

Remarkable communications

Made possible by God…

I feel Fortunate and grateful

For these Angels I’ve encountered.

                    God Bless You All!

Btw, this just reminded of something else. On a re-read of this poem, it made me tear up a bit. And, that then reminded me of the following: I don't imagine that you like Science Fiction very much, but I must recommend two pieces of Hollywood in particular. 1-The 2002 (I think) remake of "Solaris" with George Clooney. Suffice it to say, this film is way, way far beyond the normal sci-fi fare that centers on the technology itself. Check out the amazon reviews. 2-Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "(The) Inner Light". If you think that sci-fi can't make you cry, you have not seen this extremely powerful episode! Let me know what you think. ~S\d

Ok, lol (laugh out loud!), I think my point was that this poem is an unexpectedly positive take on cyber socializing. Technology or not, it's incredibly immature to think that just because one is anonymous, one can act like a moron. And I think that mentality may extend into governing organizations as well. Anyway, you also drew a very slick and thoughtful correlation between internet friends and angels. They're both mysterious in similar ways. Also, a lot of us good souls are alone - creativity and the arts can indeed, in my opinion, fill a significant portion of that wayward sense. Writing poetry, going to art galleries, going to a poetry reading (whether you participate or not), studying up on one's productive past-time, going to art symposiums/events, etc. Also, you might've inadvertantly touched on another point - no matter our level of tech., there is always the beauty and infinity of God and His angels! So, this is indeed a contemplative poem! Intelligent and heartfelt write!! ~ 10 ~

You're very welcome. Good to hear that you like sci-fi. You'll probably have to buy or rent those two I mentioned. 2012? That came out of nowhere! Yeah, I know a bit about it - the Mayan long and short count calenders. And I've many theories on it as well. One thing I would say is that I wouldn't worry about it whatsoever. What's your take on it?

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
