Among Smoke And Ash
Among the ruins of smoke and ash
Where simple lives are daily ground into trash
There grows a solitary flower
So very small and frail
So it is that deep within its humble dreams
It is a mighty rising god, or at least so it seems
As it stretches to eat the earth
And to boldly drink in the sun
It seems to know within
The meaning of its silent worth
And so its blossoms sing to one and to all
That as I so believe
I know I shall not fail
For from the smoke and the ashes
My power from within me sends
Me to live among the stars
And to embrace my inevitable end
