    at a funeral

    with sorrow adorned
    the mourners come to mourn...

upon a pedestal a casket sits
through the air the silence drifts
draped with roses as red as blood
with razor thorns not meant to cut

down the face a make-up smear
    abstract painting made by tears
men hold back as women weep
    wiping tears from their cheeks
with a swipe of their sleeve
the men control the tears that creep

upon the silk an idol lays
from this world he has escaped
in a coffin of lacquered black
a skindred statue placed on his back

a tranquil look upon his face
    finally devoid of any pain
on this day he appears to sleep
and finally looks to be at peace

in my head i hear a song
    a baritone singing strong
i close my eyes as echoes dance
and put me in a placid trance

the song i hear is just for me
a calming voice that brings me peace
not a sound for all to hear
    within my head ringing clear

to pay my last respects today
ive closed my eyes to find a way
and as i slept its come to me
at a funeral in a dream

Rich in realism, and deep in the minds scape. Yes, this is the ceremony we all must visit at some unpredictable time in our exsistance. Yes, these are the 'gatherings' that we always seem to remember so vividly.-you, however, brought a new aspect to the ritual; in every event of death we accompany- we ALL self-reflect, and we all have to quietly swallow the truth: one day that porcelein-like face we gaze at, will become us. These are the facts that decorate our subconscience. The truths that find us, even in our dreams.-Greatness is yours, Dano.;)peace,Maddi
