Before you were
Before you were
Before you were I counted, 10 little fingers and stubby toes.
Before you were I sniffed, your palms while you grasped my giant nose.
Before I ever held your head inside my giant hand,
You etched a place inside the heart of this enormous man.
Before I ever changed your diaper when your bottom did get wet,
I had this love inside for you before we ever met.
Before I ever held you close and smiled at the mere sight,
Before I ever heard you laugh or giggle with delight,
Before I got to chase the monsters underneath the bed,
Before I got to place a bow upon your little head,
Before I got to stand nearby and watch you as you sleep,
The thought of your angelic face I shall forever keep.
Before I ever saw you smile or ever heard you cry.
Before I got to say hello I was forced to say goodbye.
Before you ever hit the ground and skinned your little knee.
My Father brought you home with Him, He set MY ANGEL free!
Before I had you here with me but now I am all alone.
Before you got to bless the world, my Father called you home.
