Good Evening
An acrostic...
Good Evening,
Remember ole Sir Alfred?
Eccentric British director.
Always left his audience reeling,
Through mystery, suspense and dark humor.
Egotistical yet comically quizzical, with an uncommon flair.
Several films are considered classical, thrillers beyond compare.
Television became a vision, it showcased each week's "Presents",
Made cameos in most his shows, folks witnessed his unique presence.
You'd recognize his familiar reprise, a curious catchy dark song.
Sounded just like a funeral procession where marionettes marched along.
Terrified folks far and wide with Rear Window, Birds and Psycho.
Earned the respect of film critics with Life Boat and Vertigo.
Rebecca won him an Oscar, his one and only acclaimed best.
Years went by and many denied it was better than all the rest.
Dial M made Milland a murderer, Torn Curtain made Newman a star.
It took Grace and Grant to catch a thief, Marnie took Hedren far.
Rear Window teamed Stewart with Kelly, Perry Mason was the bad guy,
Everyone loved North by Northwest, especially when the plane flew by.
Characterized and satirized with an unforgettable silhouette,
Theater goers sat mesmorized, found his films hard to forget.
Other like Bankhead and Lorre, Bergman, Connery, Tandy and Cronyn,
Recognized that their friend Hitch was the best they had ever known.
