    Recurring Nightmare
    Visions keep flashing
    Before my eyes.
    My mind keeps rehashing,
    Clear blue skies.
    Planes keep crashing,
    Into building sides.
    Voices keep asking,
    For reasons why.

    Media speculation,
    Terrorist ties.
    Instant devastation,
    World paralyzed.
    Military hesitation?
    Rumors denied.
    Immediate retaliation.
    Maneuvers formalized.

    People falling,
    Victimized,
    Cries calling,
    Terrified.
    Glass keeps breaking,
    Horrified.
    Jihad keeps taking,
    Glorified.

    Buildings keep crumbling,
    Compromised.

    Body's keep tumbling,
    Just like flies,
    Children keep wondering,
    Who survived?
    God's second coming,
    You decide?

    Apparitions walking,
    Hypnotised.
    Staring, not talking,
    Mesmerized.
    Ghostly illusions,
    Glossy eyed.
    Prideful contusions,
    Cauterized.

    Time keeps changing,
    Anguished tides.
    Years contemplating.
    Suicide.
    Mental whip lashings,
    Deep inside.
    Faces keep passing,
    Hauntingly by.

    Politicians keep masking,
    Truth or lies.
    War keeps lasting,
    Youth genocide?
    People keep asking,
    Proof still denied.
    Terrorists keep basking,
    In rueful pride.

    Sooner or later,
    They'll open their eyes.
    See who's been awake.
    And who hypnotized.
    They'll see what's at stake,
    Then realize,
    It's been a bad dream,
    They'd rather deny.
    Ten years of frustrations, burning inside.
    Fears and sensations blurring the mind.

    Repressed bad memories to defend or to fight,

    A recurring nightmare with no end in sight.

    Wow. This is a very powerful and touching tribute to the victims who perished and the victims who survived. That day will never be forgotten. And I think everyone in the country remembers exactly where they were when they heard the devastating news. Powerful writing, friend.

    you were a witness to 9/11? then i dont know what to say. I feel for u but im still pissed off for what you did today. I understand it turned out to b someone elses but u coulda been less mean. U coulda just said its already been done and that woulda been fine with me. But i do feel for you. that was a terrible day.

    Kevin, all I can say is WOW when I read this poem. Your style changes from poem to poem, but the skill you possess is so evident in every one. You captured the emotion and imagery of 9/11 so well here. Great job.
