    Happiness

    Watch my new sky,
    feel the unfamilar breeze.
    Tasting the new scents
    all by myself.

    No longer the withered flower.
Beat up, yet a strangled beauty.
    Suddenly finding myself alive
and being able to notice others.

    Heart has healed and
    even with its scars
it still breathes in this new life.
    My new happiness.

    Different sounds
    and no more emotion.
    I'm finally there.
    I'm almost okay.

    The black lines of pain
    that run down my face
    have completely cleared.
    They are now erased.

    It's a new day
    and a fresh life.
    Everything is different
    and I'm not the same.

It feels like it's all a dream
    and I feel the relief
to see a new smile and
to feel the warmth of a different hug.

    Taking a new breath.
Growing from what use to be.
    Overwhelmed with the new
    while drowning out the old.

    My heart has left
and I hope never coming back.
    I've cut the last string
that held me to my past.

Happiness indeed. You seem to have shed old skin and morphed into a fresh start. The whole poem speaks as if a new scene has emerged in your life that keeps your perspective high raised. Letting go the dead weight. Nice.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
