Heartbeat
My heart beats ever so silently in the night. It remembers to beat, without me telling it to
I can hear it, no need to think it
It is my heart, faint and trying to transmit
A secret hiding within this body
I can hear my beat silently as I lay
The echo grows as I begin to move
The baseline beating to a simple groove
This little heart has a secret
If I get close I can hear yours too
eyes begin to swirl as the uneasiness spills through
the heavy rhythm begins to make its debut
Steady as I stay, Steady as I stay
The up beats and the down beats
This heart I can hear it matching mine
Both heartbeats intend to combine
I hear mine as I lay silent in the night
The beats persistent in sunlight or moonlight
The tempo changes through sense of movement
Constantly making it’s improvements
Steady as I go, Steady as I go
I carry your tune in my head to remind me
Sometimes I can hear it even when you're nowhere near
It says I am alive, Can you hear me? I am still here…
I try to keep your melody playing in my heart
The strength in those beats mine sung in a round
A sense of passion filled intensity
A beat with such a rhythmic propensity
But your heart was sworn to secrecy
The lyrics begging to never to be heard
The beating within, well protected
A chorus so daunting, and disconnected
As my heart began to hear your beat
The more pronounced mine became
Mine almost silent, the chorus I had to rewrite
The smooth baseline I began to recite
Once broken in too many parts to count
Beating ever so silently in the night
If you could hear it then you’d know
The beautiful audio your heart has come to bestow
Steady as I lay, Steady as I lay
I keep the tone in my heart
Silently I wait, as I place my finger over the fret
I listen for the note I can never forget
