    Peter

    Peter's my favorite
He even walked on the sea
But he had fear and doubt.
Kind of reminds me of me.

He was a fisherman by trade
A man with a good heart
Jesus picked him because he was special
He knew that from the start.

    Peter was the "Rock"
    A foundation as it stood
    A mere mortal man
Not made out of stone or wood.

    There were eleven more men
    That walked by Peter's side
They all were taught by Jesus
And supped with him before he died.

And but with a simple little kiss
    Brother Judas betrayed our Lord
    When they arrested Jesus
Peter stepped up with a sword

With the swing of Peter's blade
A soldier's ear fell to the ground
As Jesus shouted for him to stop
    There wasn't another sound.

    Jesus plucked the ear
From up out of the dirt
    Wiped off the dust
From the sleve of his shirt

All of the soldiers stood still
And not a word was said
    As Jesus took his hand
And formed the man's ear back to his head.

As they let Jesus to town
    To endure his fate
    Out screamed a woman
    That was filled with hate.

    He's one of his followers
    Take him too.
Peter looked her in the eyes
And didn't know what to do.

    I do not know him
    Get away from me Please!
When the cock crowed the third time
Peter sobbed and fell to his knees.

Peter wept and wept, and prayed
    Then he wrent his clothes
    And all was different
When on the third day he rose.

Peter went on an spread the gospel
Till the day he was dead.
    They crucified Saint Peter
    Standing on his head.

    Peter was my favorite
Hardheaded and stubborn as could be
    But Jesus chose Peter
    Just like he chose me.

nice - it good to see you read the Bible - try Rhymers "The Lords Prayer"

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
