    • If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol. And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And if I dole out all my goods, and if I deliver my body that I may boast but have not love, nothing I am profited. Love is long suffering, love is kind, it is not jealous, love does not boast, it is not inflated. It is not discourt

    "Canvas Dreams"

Face down in the bathtub, my head to the side with my ear pressed against the white water. I can hear the slow motion sound of drops, I can hear them escaping through the pipes underneath. I turn around to look at the ceiling, my space is peeling chipped paint looking for more room. My darkest secrets, all behind 2 layers of curtains, the comfortable colors worsen my pain by design. The tiles dirty and cracked like a black widows web, what I say, I don’t mean. It seems like everything is trying to relate in some insignificant matter of fate. Life, what will it bring, what has it brought, nothing but horror and happiness, there’s a moment in everyone’s life when we begin to notice the craftiness. The dreams, are they what they are, they say sleep reasons with awake for a short instant in between. How to explain something so simple into a complicated masterpiece, I better awake before I drown.

Wonderful metaphors... And such a great use of Vocabulary I must admit though, That these ‎lines “Life, what will it bring, what has it brought, nothing but horror and happiness, there’s a ‎moment in everyone’s life when we begin to notice the craftiness. Were my favorites in this ‎awesomely written Poem! Brilliant Piece!!‎

this is too very good :) I loved the ending, i really didn't expect such as straight forward ending "I better awake before I drown." Loved the metaphors favourite one " My darkest secrets, all behind 2 layers of curtains, the comfortable colors worsen my pain by design."

pocket, A very clever paradoxical scenario. You keep the reader intrigued. I like the bathtub and ear pressed to the water setting here. ginga

Again, Ritchie, you are like the Jackson Pollock of poetry here. You seem to take a handful of words and metaphors and just slap them on the page. Then you shuffle them around until you are able to find a common thread to it all. I like what you are doing. It is very different. I find it hard to follow sometimes and have to read and reread it. That's not a bad thing though. I like that this one is shorter. It also has a dreamy quality to it that most folks can probably relate to. You should read some of my earlier poems. My style is similar to yours, in that I try to get the reader's attention and then draw them in. My subject matter is similar too, kind of surreal, almost apocalyptic. Where we differ is that my poems are very traditional. They all rhyme and have a certain cadence or rhythm to them. Read Paradox, Wish I Did and Please Listen. ActualIy look at the painting I have associated with Please Listen. You can enlarge it. It is by an artist by the name of Jon Pitre. They call him the modern day DaVinci. The name of the painting is A New Dawn. Google it. Do some on line research on it. I think you will find it to be very interesting and right up your alley. I actually own this particular painting . It has inspired much of my work. I don't have the original though. I am older than you and wrote these poems 30 years ago. See how they still have a current appeal to them. I think you will like my older stuff. Very good job here. I will read on... K

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
