The Dreams of a Blind Man - The Epilogue

  • If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol. And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And if I dole out all my goods, and if I deliver my body that I may boast but have not love, nothing I am profited. Love is long suffering, love is kind, it is not jealous, love does not boast, it is not inflated. It is not discourt

Poem Commentary

This was an older poem I wrote, but since my growth I have a better vocabulary and decided to refine this poem with more beautiful imagery.  This is officially the final copy... The original copy has been published, but I think this version is much more enjoyable to read.  Please tell me what you think through comments... Much appreciated!

The Dreams of a Blind Man - The Epilogue

He delicately embraces his palms across her face as her attending heart conveys images of creation to him, her descriptions are mirror abstract illustrations of her thought process that reflect onto his masked mind into a dark room, He captures pictures, lock stock and barrel, but when he falls asleep scene one is introduced as a black and white movie portrays his life, pretty picture of clarity, soft static activates his silkened skin as the hair on his branches stick straight up to space as he touches and visions rose petals for the very first time, such artistic initials, He's driving an askewed vehicle, and with complete ascendancy he waves the traffic out in front of him as they glide away to silver skys.  It's raining now as the drops dwindle onto painted jet black pavement, yet never descend from clouds, Just ten seconds closer to color - The caregiver awakes him to his nightmares pitch black reality of afflicted waves.

Oh what a poem! You are a good poet. Your imagery style of writing is commendable and flowing. I felt the reality of the blind.

Richie, I really like this poem. Such imagination and use of imagery. It's almost as if you're blind yourself. I've often wondered what life is truly like for the blind or deaf. Especially those that have been so all they're lives. How can they decifer the many things that those of us not impaired take for granted. Like color or the laugh of a child. Imagine life for someone like Helen Keller who had both deficiencies to contend with? I have 2 very close friends who taught at Galludet University in Washington, D.C. It is this country's premier university for the deaf. Amazing world to visit if you ever get the chance. The deaf are a community in and of themselves. There is a wonderful movie from the 80's that deals with the life of a blind person. I believe it is called Mask. It stars Cher, Sam Elliott, Eric Stoltz and Laura Dern. Stoltz has a facial deformity and Dern plays a blind girl who only sees him for his inner self. There is wonderful scene in the movie where Stoltz describes color to Dern, who has been blind since birth. If you've never seen the movie you should check it out. Let me know if you do and what you think. Anyways, this poem is beautifully written, in the unmistakeable Richie form. A wonderful addition to your ever growing collection. Good job my friend. Thanks for asking my opinion... K
