    Red Sonja (Rondel)

I loved her for her streaming auburn hair

and ruby lips too cold for me to kiss.

Phantasmal limbs surround in secret bliss,

a vision born in dreaming youthful prayer.

    Unseen misty lingering love affair

recurring dreams too often to dismiss.

I loved her for her streaming auburn hair

and ruby lips too cold for me to kiss.

A vision lithe and lean, a tempting fair

creation, nightly coming I shall miss

when earthly essence has replaced all this,

I’ll have a real romantic life to share.

I loved her for her streaming auburn hair.
