The Endless Trip
Ready to go, I bring a book to read
Everything placed just so, we all know
Sitting in our places, all patiently waiting
The car is started, we appreciate the silence
It still gives us the hope
That all will go well with our trip
Our spirits are low as we start the trip
The signs are hard to read
The car ride is long as we try not to give up hope
Everything will work out, we all know
Like the road stretches so the silence
At the light we are waiting
The ride is almost over, this waiting
This long, long trip
The radio turned on, to break the silence
As I try to read
A stop will make it longer we all know
We all pray no heavy traffic, we all hope
It hangs over our head, this hope
And it’s killing us this waiting
Something will happen before we get there, we all know
This endless trip
The radio hard to hear, miles hard to read
Through the shedding tears and the uneven silence
A cell phone rings breaking the silence
With the news we lose some hope
The worry on our faces, easy to read
Will never end, this waiting
Curses on this fateful trip
When will we know
The stress is over we all know
It is broken with great sighs, this silence
It was worth the stress, this cursed trip
It has given us hope
Of the future that is waiting
The relief on our faces, easy to read
In the hospital she is waiting, It is my turn to read
The silence is broken, relieved we know
The trip to see grandma has given us hope
Everything placed just so, we all know
Sitting in our places, all patiently waiting
The car is started, we appreciate the silence
It still gives us the hope
That all will go well with our trip
Our spirits are low as we start the trip
The signs are hard to read
The car ride is long as we try not to give up hope
Everything will work out, we all know
Like the road stretches so the silence
At the light we are waiting
The ride is almost over, this waiting
This long, long trip
The radio turned on, to break the silence
As I try to read
A stop will make it longer we all know
We all pray no heavy traffic, we all hope
It hangs over our head, this hope
And it’s killing us this waiting
Something will happen before we get there, we all know
This endless trip
The radio hard to hear, miles hard to read
Through the shedding tears and the uneven silence
A cell phone rings breaking the silence
With the news we lose some hope
The worry on our faces, easy to read

The silence is broken, relieved we know
The trip to see grandma has given us hope
