    Up Above

    Blue skies tear apart,
    exposing the black above.
Twinkling suns pierce the Earth's heart,
crashing in the skin we love.
Terror and chaos reigns above all,
the explosions leaving scars for all.
    Debris streaming down unknown,
    settling onto Life's abode.
None to stop and look above,
none to see the wonder unfold.
Time and Death and Love are one
    above the minds aligned behind
    their illusion and confusion.
    None to see the magnificence
of their world beyond their own.
None to stop and breathe, to see
their perception of time is a fantasy.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
