A Walk in The Woods
I walk in the woodSpring flowers in bloom
Bursting their hoods
From their muddy womb
The air blows clean
The snow is gone
The grass is green
T'is Spring's dawn
The paths are filled
With melted snow
The storms have stilled
The floods now flow
There's old foundations
Of life gone by
Former civilizations
Decayed and dry
The birds are flitting
To and fro
With sticks they're fitting
Their nests to grow
Their chirping we hear
As music in the air
None can compare
It's beauty so rare
Mice and moles
Scurry about
Out of holes
Til Autumn's drought
Green buds appear
On arbor lean
Spring is here
Clothed in green
On occasion
We feel snow flakes
Winter's lamentation
As Spring awakes
The gardens are bare
Of Summer flowers
In need of their
Life giving showers
Window are gray
With smudge and haze
Blocking the way
Of Sol's brrght rays
Temperatures rise
Urging me and my wife
To explore with our eyes
The back yards of life
Play off and play ball
Are in the news
For one and all
To get rid of the blues
It's life's celebration
Of nature born anew
Of preparation
With colors of every hue
Green from brown
Is everywhere seen
The living gown
Of Nature's Queen
Street sweepers clear
Up winter's dust
Pot holes are there
Our cars to bust
No gloves or coats
Light clothing is in
Not jackets or totes
We tan our skin
First Palm Sunday
Then Easter morn
God's promise this day
That new life is born
It's clean out time
For house and soul
Clean off the grim
From newand ol'
It ends so soon
'Twil be no more
April, May, June
And Spring is o'er
