Lend an Ear
Effective listening is an art
You must want to hear, to start
Not be afraid of what you've heard
No matter how hard may be the word
Hear the words with an open mind
Even if it seems unkind
Your walls can often get in the way
So don't let your ears be filled with their clay
You must read the body too
It can say a lot to you
Listen to the pitch and tone
Not just the words alone
And silence you should learn to hear
It speaks mouthfuls loud and clear
Don't be quick to fill the void

The right reply trying to seek
Do your thinking when they're done
Not chatter on like a Gattling gun
Know where the other's coming from
So you hear all, not just some
