    Chains

All the great themes have been used up
    and turned into theme parks.
There is nothing to look forward to
and no one to look up to.
Too many followers, not enough leaders,
no one has the guts to step out on their
    own and be an original.
Too busy mimicking the trends on MTV.
    Everything decent has been done,
the revolution has hit a road block,
it;s been sold out by substitute teachers,
    and uncle toms.
Human condition, rights and wrongs corrupted
    heart divided from the truth,
we don't practice what we preach.
    The blind leading the blind,
    too many kids raising kids,
man what happened to big mama?
Modern day trickery is all that is taught
    morals corrupted counterfit cure.
    Desperate moments become ordinary days,
truth casts no shadow, everything is polluted.
    Negative imagery holding us down
ignorance has become our new chains,
our new system of bondage, the new slave trade.
Knowledge is our power, words are the tools that
    separate us from the fools.
    The message has been lost,
the condition of our youth has become a mind field.
The pursuit of happiness has become strange fruit,
you only get to be happy if the price is right.
    Everything is on hold
where is the voice that cuts through the darkness?
    Where is the love?
We need to brake the chains
how we gonna make a change?

Chains of bondage is what I understand your poem to mean. Placing the spacing between the paragraphs can help your audience to grasp their breath while reading your poem!!! The message is clear here there are some concerns about the changes taking place, and let's face it who wants to be left behind or powerless in their surroundings?

Chains come in many different forms. No examples are needed because we can all fill in the blanks. I liked this piece very much.......E

There are problems here. The poem reads like a set of unrelated angry observations. As such they are just the writers opinions. Nothing is supported and nothing is explained. For example "We don't practice what we preach". Who doesn't? What does that even mean. How does that relate to "chains". This poem is a first draft looking for a meaning.

thank you for your honesty, and criticism i will think on it and possible rewrite it on this site.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
