    Letting go

I thought the end of us was hard,
but I did not know what hard was.
Letting go of us and moving
    on trumps all the rest.
    No longer being your special
someone hurts like a live wire
    to my heart.
    Having all of these unresolved
emotions that I can't seem to shake,
I find myself lost without you.
Used to being a pair, a couple,
a combined entity, but now I have
    to regress to being single.
    Just being friends with you
    without any benefits attached
    seems unreal, and wrong.
Not having the one I want just
    memories is a trip I wasn't
    prepared to take.
I thought it would be easy
    distancing myself from you,
    changing my habits.
    I was wrong saying goodbye
is the most painful part of love,
and the hardest thing to do.

Very powerful! I can feel and relate to your pain. Time heals all wounds. Allow yourself to feel each and every emotion and as the pain eases discard it from your life and memories. Remember the lesson you learned from the relationship and try to look at it objectively. Great write...............E

I believe that choosing to end a relationship is painful and the best way to get over it is to admit the feelings that you are experiencing.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
