Dear Little One
Good morning dear little one.
Well it's not so good to you.
But you're the answer to my prayers.
Little one if only you knew. . .
Hello dear Little one,
I know your scared and mad.
Little one I get it;
You have every right to be sad
Hi Little one I'm sure this is strange.
Little one I'm sorry for how
But I'm so thrilled-
So excited you're here now.
I've been where you are
Little one I was scared of change too.
I was so terrified of different
I chose to just see it through.
But because I have been there-
Little one you have no idea-
I can hear your fear and worry
You feel like this is Tanzania.
I'm so different.
I get it. It's just so weird.
Little one having love is normal.
I'm sorry they made it a thing to be feared.
You flinch when I approach
You don't talk to me at all.
I understand dear Little one
You demons were right down the hall.
Hello dear Little one:
I don't know you yet.
I wish I knew your fav color.
But of the same war, we are vets.
Dear Little one I know you
Far more than you wish.
Hey there itty bitty one
This relationship is still so newish.
That's okay.
I will wait
Hey little one,
I'm so glad for fate.
I used to curse the sky!
I used to cry bloody tears.
I used to hate God
For making me survive so many fears.
But little one you don't see
How my hell is like yours
How we're always meant to be:
Healers in the new wars.
I will love you more
Than I could ever love my own
Little one you are an answered prayer
And I am you but full grown.
This sounds crazy, maybe insane,
But Little one I am you friend.
I know you don't know me
But I'll be here til the very end.
Whether that be as your momma,
A friend, or an aunt.
I want you to thrive
Wherever you may plant.
I'm sorry your life's been hard
I'm sorry you're so scared.
As I stated earlier.
I didn't have someone who cared.
I'm glad you cared enough
Either about you or another
To seek out confidence
And save you and your mother.
You've been so strong
You've been so darn brave
But it's okay little one
Look at the path you have paved.
Your future is uncertain
I will give you that.
But it's got more options
Now let's have a chat.
What do you want?
Who will you be?
Where is your heart?
Can you learn to trust me?
-a letter from a foster mother.
