    "Maybe?" He Says

     I ask "Did you ever love me?"
    His reply "I don't know maybe?"
    I asked "What chance is there for us to be?"
    He said " Either way we are friends believe me."
    Never a straight answer when it comes to the hard stuff
    Always open ended maybe, possibly, if enough.
    And when I get the courage to ask you out
    "I'm busy, it's complicated" you shout
    Yes so we can be together or no so I'll stop chasing a dream
    I need to know if we will ever be a team
    Undecided, undetermined, unwilling?
    Anyway you put it "Maybe" is unfulfilling.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
