Mask

Who are we right now,
In this masquerade we live in?
If you still remember you face,
(is it beautiful as you disguise?)
How does it look like under the mask?

I am but your marionette, now, then and forever;
Place the guilt, pain and all the consequences upon my shoulders;
And if you let me wear this mask,
I promise to never succumb to the weight.

But when we arrive at the masquerade,
Please allow me to change my identity again;
And please don't speak of who I was
Or the one you made me into.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
