Palm of Some Kind
It's like the way the breezePushes the leaves of the Palms
Outside my window.
It's a hard nudge
Away from the static
Throwing us into every direction.
A stiff home can only
Break so many bones
Before it, too, can know
How it feels to be broken.
And I can still recall the day
When you walked into my life
And out of that cave.
Hidden from what I've seen.
You were held back
From who we could be
And where we would go.
Our fingers laced
Tied shut
Throwing us up in the air,
Up and down bumpy currents,
Passed the unsettling branches
We held so strongly;
And Those who pushed out
In every direction
Like the breeze through the palm leaves
Outside my window.
