Fire Affliction
Skip close to me in 16 years of fire
In the place we once stood
Toes on the rim
The edge of the sheet rock
Where you first held my hand
Can you feel my heart beat
My breath skip pace
A monsoon of twitters and giggles
Escaping my face.
Catching glimpse of the smile you hide
The thorns from the roses
Catching your skin
As your blood drains for me
And I breathe it all in.
I can recall how I felt
Shivering to the songs you made
As your fingers plucked
Every strand of my hair.
And our bodies swayed to the tunes
Of heartfelt melodies
I only assumed
That you heard it too.
Can you recall what you did see
Whilst your bloody heart stood stating
You will find a piece of me
In your memory, waiting
I stood with you
Till you closed your eyes
Walking on two feet
With your head held high
Into the fire
Your own sea of hope
Where my reflection can but smile at you
Tormenting as you mope
Look into my eyes
Into the heart you stole
Where it's known
Deep in your soul
That peace you will find
Just open your eyes
.....I'm still waiting
