    Through My Eyes

Sit down and close your eyes,
    Open your mind,
Forget what you know and who you are,
Take a step into my head,
    And, look through my eyes,

    People think they know me,
But, you only know a part of who I am,
And, you don't see what's inside,
You don't know the pain, the fear, or the love,
You don't know how I really feel,

There are many sides to me,
    Not just light and dark,
    It's more complex than that,
And, I'm tired of people only seeing part of who I am,
To know me, is to love me...all of me,

    So many times,
    People see me smile,
I'm the life of the party,
    But, inside I'm broken,
I feel like I need to hide it,

Wearing a mask for all to see,
But, it's begun to feel uncomfortable,
So, I have taken it off,
    Exposed,
    And, there's no going back,

Take the good with the bad,
    If you love me,
    You'll accept me...all of me,
    If you don't,
There's no one from stopping you from leaving,

How does it feel to see who I am,
    To know how I feel,
To see things as I see them,
    I'm a beautiful mess,
    Imperfect, but real,

What you see now is what you get,
    Flaws and insecurites,
    Hopes and dreams,
    Strengths and talents,
    Opinions and values,

    Open your eyes and arise,
Now that you've taken the time to see me for who I am,
Will you stay or will you go?
That is the question I pose to you now,
Now that you have looked through my eyes.

There's no one from stopping you from leaving, this line needs to be fixed

    How so?

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
