Love Is
Love Is
Love is like a river,
Searching banks upon the shore,
It will feed the ones who live there;
Ever needing --- wanting more.
Love is like a fire,
That’s been tried and tested twice,
Our chaff is burnt up in it,
That we may not suffer vice.
Love is full of passion
Like a moth drawn to its flame,
Casts out care with pure abandon,
Void of caution and refrain.
Love is an astute man,
Understanding perils old,
Leaves his legacy for children
In books that won’t grow cold.
Love is like a baby,
Gently cradled, soft and fair,
If you cultivate his talents
He will gain his equal share.
Love is an endless cycle,
That keeps all things sublime,
Each melody adjoining,
Knows each rhythm has its rhyme.
The homeless man seeks shelter
With his outstretched arms at night;
I see love's brightest hour
When it feeds a heart contrite.
So if you'll only listen
To love's whisper in your soul,
The still, small voice inside you
Turns your fears to joy untold!.
