My funeral
The church bells ring and everyone enters
There’s a funeral today, my funeral
Open casket I see my still body lying there
Tears are shed from many, some I don’t recognize
A funeral precession towards the grave yard
I see my family there, all in tears
If only I could say I am sorry
If only they could know the words left unsaid
Fresh dirt, I am there underneath
Will my friends and family remember me?
Did I make an impact on anyone’s life?
Flowers are now laid above the dirt
If I knew my life would be ending
I would have never went to bed angry
I would have said I was sorry more and argued less
If only I knew maybe they wouldn’t be crying
Will I be remembered in a good way?
Or will I just be remembered on that day?
Memories good and bad, don’t forget me.
Don’t dwell but don’t forget
I’d want my sister to know it’s okay to cry
Tell my daddy I am going to miss him
Tell my momma I am sorry for pushing her aside
And my brother that I am proud of him
Let my niece know I will always be around
Remind my friends distance doesn’t change a thing
Let my memory live on in the lives of them
“Whenever you remember I will be there”
There’s a funeral today, my funeral
