Sweetest Dream
SWEETEST DREAM
In deepest sleep, I thought of you,
the sweetest dream I wished would come true.
Restful slumber, yet on the wings of night.
Dancing on the moon, for the star dust gave us flight.
You whispered sweet nothings, such heaven to me.
Those words forever, engraved on my heart, they will be.
We stayed high above the earth and then we came down.
As gentle as feathers, we floated to the ground.
There bathed in moon light, beside a gentle sea.
You softly kissed my lips, then gave your heart to me.
The magnitude of that moment washed over my very soul.
Until the power made me feel, I would lose all control.
We made love beneath sparkling stars
And bathed in the milky light of the moon.
The sky to the east warned of dawn coming soon.
Illuminated and saturated with the colors of love,
the sudden blazing fury of the sun up above.
With its blinding light upon my face,
in an instant the sweetest dream was erased.
With a heavy heart I woke to find,
that even in dreams love can make us blind.
Expecting to see you laying next to me in bed,
the cold reality settled in instead.
That I am here alone.
