Release

The earth shifts beneath my feet

I feel the heart of the city streets

At the foot of my bed beauty sleeps

and beckons me to dream

a quiet voice inside my head

whispers words better left unsaid

so I rise in the darkness

and write them down instead

wisdom and chaos wrapped in pretty paper

emotions that flutter like butterflies

released from captivity to reach the skies

I am creativity tonight

Imagination illuminated by computer light

I wash myself of all unclean

kissing goodbye anything obscene

I unwind this tension that I feel

by writing the words and dare to peel

back the many layers of my psyche

until I am left with just the real me.
