Day On The Island
'Twas a beautiful day on the island,
smiling people everywhere,
blue sky gleaming,
teenagers feeling,
content
'Twas a quiet day on the island,
whisper of the waves,
call of seagulls,
fish swimming in schools,
again
'Twas a great day on the island,
two best friends with boards,
plenty of waves to ride,
no reason to hide,
hugs
'Twas an accomplished day on the island,
everyone lounging around,
night sky shining,
no one crying,
EVER.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
